David Cam has worked at Pleasure Beach for over 40 years and so will be providing guests with many fascinating insights from the running of the park to the design of some of the biggest rides.

Tours will start from the engine room of Sir Hiram Maxim’s Flying Machines, the oldest ride at Pleasure Beach, built in 1904 and still thrilling families today. The room contains the original mechanism of huge wheels, cogs and booms which operate the 150ft ride, although the original steam engine has since been replaced!

From the Flying Machines, guests will be taken across various key attractions, including the famous Big One, for a look at the controls which operate the UK’s tallest roller coaster. Guests will also get a look at the underground workshops for the Steeplechase – a classic steel coaster built in 1977 which sees riders race on horses across three lanes.

Away from the rides, tours will venture further behind the scenes taking in the numerous workshops of Pleasure Beach. Guests will be guided through the Ride Engineering Department and see the teams of workers and the many parts that keep the rides moving at Pleasure Beach. Guests will also be lead for the first time through the Model Shop, a series of workshops tasked with creating ghouls for the ghost train, painting the many carousel horses and ensuring that the world famous Laughing Man is always looking his best!
